  • Because of the reviews we found here on Yelp we stopped in today for lunch. As it turns out the food was really only AVERAGE! The wait at 12:30pm was 30 minutes so we decided to eat in the bar as you can order from the FULL menu when seated there. We ordered a Taco Salad with Shredded Beef to share. I was surprised to find the meal lacking in flavor... the beef, though fairly moist, had almost no depth of flavor. Also, I had expected there to be some beans included with the meat (hubby didn't) and there were none. Salad-wise the lettuce was fresh and crisp. There were NO other veggies - I would have liked some onions, radish, purple cabbage and substantially more Pico de Gallo than the SPRINKLING that was included. Though there was a small scoop each of guacamole and sour cream the salad needed either an option of dressing OR substantially MORE Pico, guac., and/or sour cream. Service at the bar was spot-on! For these reasons we feel that the best rating we can give is 3 out of 5 stars. We hope that Viva Zapata's improves their food quality so that we can stop in the next time we travel to North Vegas to go to the VA Hospital and Clinics.
