My first time eating at Cafe Lalibela was more than a dining experience, it was a paradigm shift. Previously I'd eaten Ethiopian food on a number of occasions at various locales around the country, and I was consistently underwhelmed. I've never had the occasional Ethiopian food craving... that is until I ate at Cafe Lalibela. Now I frequently find myself Jonesin' for some yekik alicha!
I have been transformed into an avid advocate to bring Ethiopian food to the masses (by way of a yelp review). Not only is well-made Ethiopian food delicious--Ethiopian food eaten right feels so democratic. Colorful fare sharing the same bed of injera in harmony; and people eating from the same plate with their hands free of the oppressive encumbrances of utensils.
Me and my girlfriend patronize Cafe Lalibela often and always order the vegetarian combo for two--which includes a generous serving of misr wat, gomen, tikal gomen, and fosolia. We also order some yekik alicha to complete the bodacious spread. The spread comes undergirded by a disc of delectable injera.
The food is absolutely phenomenal. With every bite I feel myself transported to the culinary enclaves of Addis Ababa. (Though I've never been to Ethiopia, I have an active imagination.) The servers are always friendly and attentive; the prices are very reasonable; and the Ethiopian folk art on the walls makes for good restaurant aesthetics.
Overall, Cafe Lalibela is a top-tier establishment. If you enjoy good food, I highly recommend that you eat there.
