  • I love it here. Seriously. I love the place, I love the food, I love the staff, I love the drinks (except for the hurricane, too sweet). This is a great place to come for happy hour or for dinner. Parking is on the street which can be sometimes annoying but it has not ever been a huge problem. Even on the Yelp app you can make a reservation, which I would say to do just because the place is not huge. I like to sit at the booths in the back but there are spaces at the bar and high top tables. I just prefer a seat that is comfortable and a little more intimate. I love Cajun and Creole food. Anything that has a bit of spice and seafood is good in my book. And oysters are my all time favorite. I could eat those little morsels every day of the week. I came for a tasting party once and then for happy hour. So I am trying to write about both of my experiences with the food. Honestly, they were both great so...its hard not to like the menu, people, service, and ambiance. Oysters: JAMES RIVER: Cherrystone Aqua Farms (Chincoteague, VA). These are my favorite of all of the oysters that I have tried. Not briny at all. Very smooth, plump, and full of flavor. I am not a fan of the briny oysters so this one was a great choice. CHARGRILLED OYSTERS: Garlic Butter, Parmesan, Chili Flakes. Yum. A little bit of spice and a little bit of cheese. These went down really well. I thought that maybe the cheese made the oyster a little salty, but overall delish. OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER:Greens, Bacon, Parmesan, Absinthe. Really good dish too. The bacon was cut into bigger chunks than I would have liked and because of that it was extra crunchy and more noticeable. I would have liked to have it mix a bit more with the dish, but it was still really good. Appetizers: BLACK TRUFFLE HUSH PUPPIES:Mushroom Duexelle, Black Truffle, Fresh Herbs, Black Garlic Remoulade. These are AMAZING. Seriously. I cannot talk about how great these were. The taste was so unlike any other hush puppy I had ever had. I would get these all day long. The black garlic remoulade was also something interesting and delicious. Main Course: SEAFOOD GUMBO: Lobster, Shrimp, Crawfish, Oysters,Rice, Andouille Sausage, Okra. Just get this. It was delicious. I loved the mixture of the seafood with the taste of the gumbo. I have never had that much seafood in my gumbo and I am a changed person because of it! Yummy! PO BOY: Your choice of Fried Shrimp or Oysters, Iceberg, Tomato, Pickle,Chili Mayo. I tried both the fried shrimp and the fried oyster po boy. Both were great. I enjoyed the Oyster one a bit more but that is only because I love oysters. I thought it was fried to perfection and the oysters were still plump and juicy on the inside. LOUISIANA LOBSTER ROLL: Maine Lobster & Crawfish, Garlic Butter, Lemon, Split Top Roll. This was awesome. Really, really good. Not a lot of filler in this. I would say that I did add a little bit of the hot sauce to give it more of a kick. But other than that I would get this again for sure. Drinks: DON'T YOU LIE TO ME: Vodka, Green Apple, Lemon, Vanilla Beans. Go straight to this drink. Do not pass it up. I would bathe in this drink if appropriate! It is just so refreshing and great! Go to Muddy Waters!! Take your family and friends. It is totally worth it! Splurge and go have some fun!
