It's been nearly a decade since we've seen the construction of Las Vegas' "Big Dig" blossom into the opulent, sophisticated and contemporary mixed-use, urban complex CityCenter now rebranded to Aria. We took notice of the seemingly round-the-clock construction back in 2006 while staying in a suite at the Planet Hollywood Resort that overlooked The Strip. The CityCenter opened in 2009.
The Shops at Crystals has over 50 exclusive luxury retailers (many showcase major couture designers) that is anchored by more than 15 flagship stores, under one roof. There are 7 restaurants or dining options within this mall such as Mastro's Ocean Club, Todd English P.U.B., Pinkberry, Bobby's Burger Palace and others.
Within this mall, you'll also find the recently dedicated custom designed Chinese New Year Dragon or the cylinders of vortex as well as other artwork. You can find yourself relaxing at Pinkberry or grabbing a burger at Bobby's Burger Palace if you like. So, everything in this mall isn't ultra-luxury.
We've stayed at MGM Properties that connect to this mall. Often times, we have walked in to enjoy our morning coffee beverages at the Starbucks or grabbed a prime rib sandwich and beer at Todd English's P.U.B. Speaking of connections, this mall is very accessible by taking the the Aria Express which runs South to North from the Monte Carlo Resort to The Bellagio.
The architect's, Daniel Libeskind, work is instantly recognizable by its sharp angular forms, intersecting planes and diagonally sliced windows. You might recognize these same hallmarks at the newly redeveloped World Trade Center as he was appointed as WTC masterplanner in 2003.
Just because the stores in here are ultra-luxury, doesn't mean that you or me can't shop or relax here. Just come in and enjoy the air-conditioning and architecture...
