I was lucky enough to have a facial booked for me for my birthday. The lady first put this cream-like face wash on my face (which wiped right off) then went over my entire face picking out all the black heads and popping the white heads with these special tools. Then she placed a hot towel over my face and massaged my cheeks and forehead for a bit. After that she applied a face mask which she allowed to harden for a few minutes, during which time she massaged my temples and shoulders. Once the mask was taken off she applied a light toner and then massaged my face again, this time with some nice smelling cream.
I have to say that some of the process hurt, like when she was pulling my blackheads out and the mask which kind of stung at first, but once I left my face felt cleaner than ever. It was so refreshing and rejuvenating I really felt like all the dirt was gone from my face.
Once the facial was done I headed down to the store to have someone talk to me about make-up. I've never actually been a fan of Aveda make-up products though... and that's all they offer. I find it just doesn't want to work with my skin for whatever reason. The prices of the make-up are definitely too high as well. I almost prefer buying the cheaper drug-store stuff because I think it works just as well.
The prices remain constant for all the salon and spa work... expensive. If it hadn't been a birthday present I probably would never have had the facial in the first place. I've bought my Mom a couple of mani-pedi's for her birthday, but that's another special occasion so it's justified. I could not, however, rationalize going to this place on a regular basis. As nice as the facial felt, the prices just killed me.
