My grandson had an appointment in this office on a Wednesday morning. The physician stated that he would electronically send an antibiotic prescription to the pharmacy. We tried to pick up the prescription twice that day and called the doctor's office the next morning to find out why the prescription still was not ready. When we called this office we were told that the prescription had been sent. Seeing as how it wasn't there we asked to speak with the office manager. Then the receptionist asked for the name of the medicine. We explained to her that the antibiotic was Augmentin. She again stated that the pharmacy had received the prescription. Again we asked to speak with the office manager. After being on hold for an extended period of time the receptionist came back on the line and said the office manager would pick up the line as soon as she ended the call that she was on. After another extended hold time, a "nurse" picked up the phone and said that the prescription had never been sent, but she took care of it. When asked why we had been told that it had already been done, she stated that the girl was only a receptionist and didn't know the difference. She said that the Tobramycin prescription had been sent. (This was done a week previous to this.) Again we asked why if we specifically told her Augmentin then why did she tell us this had been done.
This was the final straw with this office. They are consistently rude and unprofessional. They lie instead of simply finding out the answer to the question. Since a good portion of my family is employed in the medical field, we expect quality care. We don't expect the receptionist to "know the answer". We do however, expect them to take the time to "find it out" and give us the "true" answer.
When we finally spoke to the office manager, she was defensive, rude, antagonistic, and not any more professional than her employees.
Even though Dr. Hartsook had a great rapport with my grandson, he tolerates this type of behavior from his office staff. Unfortunately this will affect his professional reputation.
