| - I never write reviews, but I'm writing this one just to make sure no one experiences what I experienced. I was referred to The Drew Family Dentistry by a Friend and coworker. I had a local dentist, but was looking for a new one because the office made staff changes and the service wasn't the same. After getting the information for The Drew Family Dentistry from my friend I called and made an appointment. The receptionist was nice and upbeat, she got my information including insurance name and group Id and scheduled an appointment for me. The day of my appointment I went in with my paperwork printed and filled out, including the page with my insurance information. I was greeted by a happy, upbeat woman at the front desk who took my paperwork and insurance card to make a copy. I sat down and a few minutes later she called me up and said she was going to fax my old dentist to get my previous x-rays and sent me back with the dentist's assistant who was really nice as well. She waited for the x-rays and came back and said they wanted to do one more x-ray and that she would check and make sure my insurance covered it. She went out and spoke to someone at the front and came back and said, "Great, your insurance will cover the x-rays as well." I finished my visit by meeting Dr. Drew who was also extremely nice, and a hygienist who was great! After about an hour of getting my new patients exam, x-rays and cleaning I was taken to the front for checkout, only to have the same lady who took all my information, including my insurance card, tell me my insurance would not cover the visit. So now I've been here over an hour and had all this stuff done only to find out I have a $291 balance!! She took off $150 and charged me $141 for what is normally 100% covered by my insurance. I paid and left, initially feeling like I had done something wrong, but after thinking about it I don't understand how they saw my insurance card and even got my information when I first called in to make the appointment, told me it was covered, and then say it wasn't. If they had told me before I went back I could have made the decision on whether to have the work done or not. Everyone that worked there was great, but paying for something that I thought was covered was not. So please make sure you have them check your insurance before getting work done, then ask for confirmation of what you are told. Since the person verifying works with insurance companies daily, I would think that this kind of mistake could've been avoided. I ended up spending money that I was not prepared to spend thinking that my insurance was covering the cost.
