  • This was really disappointing, especially after the positive Yelp reviews. The onion rings were made fresh. However, I've made better at home (and on my first and only try). The batter was bland and tasted "oily," if it had a flavor at all. The actual onion pieces were cut too small to have a good mouth-feel. The charred beef jumbo hot dog I ate was okay. It was buried under a pleasant mountain of toppings--I asked for "everything"--and this was nice. The bun was typical; nothing that went above and beyond the Wal-Mart buns-in-a-bag experience. I also had a jumbo burger. 1/3 pound. It was cooked okay; medium-rare in parts, medium in others. I suspect they were trying for medium. The toppings were acceptable and the bun was pretty good. The meat itself tasted unseasoned, but was fine. We had a milkshake, too. Loganberry. Theoretically. It tasted like strawberry, and when I asked for confirmation that it was not strawberry, the staff offered to remake it. Okay, I thought this may be a gambit to save face--fine, let's let them remake the drink. I was told that they'd bring it out to us, so I sat down at the table. We were later "greeted" by an employee carrying our milkshake. She slammed it down on the table without comment (slopping some of it over the edge of the cup), and spun on her heel and returned to the service line. All in all ... I really, really, really hope they had an "off night." We won't be going back, which is sad--all I wanted was a tasty hot dog served by folks who were friendly. I don't care that I'm being fleeced for a hot dog; I'll pay $4 for one if it is good and comes with quality service and preparation. If our evening is any indication, Ted's Hot Dogs has a long way to go with staff training and quality of sides. I appreciate that QSRs are hard things to staff well, but just hiring folks that are somewhat friendly and want customers to come back may be a good start.
