  • So Rabba isn't a particularly cheap place to shop for groceries. In fact, you'll go broke if you do your groceries there every week. I know this because I used to do this. I lived across the street from this Rabba for 2 years and have quite a history with it. I don't know if it still is, but it was open 24 hours a day when I lived there 6 years ago. There was a Polish man working at the counter seemingly 20 hours a day and he put up with the most insane shit from me and my friends. Once I walked in with a dozen of my friends, all of us covered in fake blood (it wasn't Halloween and zombie walks weren't cool yet) for no reason other than to see the reactions on the staff's faces. The clerk didn't frown, he didn't smile, he didn't react. He just let us buy our stuff and then he continued mopping the floor. I drank a lot back then and would often make a "Rabba-run," as we called it, at 2 or 3 am. I would sometimes strike up a conversation with the Polish man, who turned out to be quite nice. He didn't care that I was drunk all the time and he would occasionally buy stuff from the store I worked at down the block and we'd exchange smiles, curt nods, knowing glances. That's about it. I have fond memories of this place because of how nice this man was to me. It's also extremely convenient when you're missing one or two ingredients from a recipe, or if you have a roommate who insists on adding boiled hot dogs to his Kraft dinner meal. If you're drunk and lazy it's always going to be the most convenient option for food as well. Depending on where you live in Port Credit, it's just a short walk away.
