| - Pretty desserts always attract me. I have been to Duo couple times to try out their nice looking, fancy looking desserts. They are priced reasonably, and the portions are decent.
I wasn't a huge fan of their lemon-y stuff. Lemon is an ingredient in baking where it's so easy to go "too much", and that's how I felt with their lemon tart and lemon meringue. I can't say it was not good, but I've had much better. The mont blanc was delicious, but a bit on the sweeter side. My personal preference when it comes to dessert, is if they can master something without making it too sweet, then it's art. There are a few places in Toronto where they serve mind blowing mont blanc without even the taste of sugar. Noel was the same issue, a bit on the sweeter side for me. The only one I liked more than the others were the Nova since it got away with it being chocolatey. A bit critical with their desserts, but overall they have some nice stuff. Their lattes are not that special.
This place gave off a very pretencious vibe, felt like a lot of first dates happen here. Whereas usual dessert spots are for those who want to enjoy a cup of latte and chat with a friend, or lean back to read a book.
