  • I've been a member of MEC for years and have shopped their Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver stores repeatedly. For me, outdoor equipment stores, including REI and Eastern Mountain Sports, don't compare to this true Canadian original. While MEC does carry a lot of items that are available in the States, they have a wider selection of higher-quality goods that make this store a must. MEC is always my favorite shopping experience and I'm always glad to see the hot dog cart outside the door so I can get my veggie dog, too. Highest respect to MEC.
