| - 3.5 stars collectively, but I feel there are three separate "areas of service" that can reviewed independently: the TaylorMade golf experience/pro shop, the Flight Deck bar/restaurant, and the actual golf facilities (driving range and 9-hole course).
2 stars for the TaylorMade golf experience/pro shop and that feels a bit generous. I have been trying to improve my set of lefty (women's) clubs for quite some time; it is already challenging to find options as it is but we wanted to try the TaylorMade shop thinking they would have a wide selection of their products and more importantly knowledgeable staff eager to sell TaylorMade product. That wasn't really the case at all. The representative offered very little advice or suggestions beyond checking the used inventory online. That ended up being a good tip as the online store had all lefty equipment on sale for 35% off! Why did the sales rep not know that to emphasize it to the potential customer.. or offer to show me the inventory online?? Who knows! We asked about a set of lefty rentals to at least be able to try something; rentals are $20. After our round, we were looking at putters (on our own) and after a few minutes a meekly spoken rep essentially kicked us out of the shop because Taylor had his bag. Didn't offer to take it for us, didn't offer to help us with putters, just said "You can't have those (clubs) in here"... Ok cool, we'll leave!
3-3.5 stars for the golf accommodations. The 9 hole par 3 course is $20 regular price, or they have a Thursday-Sunday "twilight" deal; $25 for 100 range balls and 2 free drinks along with the golf round under the lights- really good deal! Playing golf under lights with the Strip views in the background was a unique experience! Unfortunately several of the lights were either out or not turned on making some tee boxes and/or greens a little too dark. The course is in acceptable condition for the bargain price; the greens were surprisingly fast in my opinion. The driving range has mats and real grass, a rarely found feature as it is, let alone for a 9-hole "bargain" course.
4 stars for the Flight Deck Bar. The space has its own identity; modern and fresh with a touch of industrial style. I was very impressed with the attention and care to the bar as the rest of the grounds seem a little neglected and definitely lacking a cohesive style or identity. Leah was so helpful, friendly, and attentive. The free drink options include beer, well spirits, and a few specialty spirits- Jameson along with chilled Jaegermeister and Fireball! Definitely worth the $5 upcharge for the golf special. They have a happy hour 7 days a week as well! They also have a wide selection of reasonably priced American food options for any meal of the day.
Overall, I would recommend the golf course for a relaxed, fun golf experience for those looking to whack a few balls and not take themselves too seriously. I will definitely be back with friends and visitors but don't think I will be rushing back for a focused round or to visit the pro shop.
