  • My family and I spent last night at the Princess. As Scottsdale locals, we have previously been to the Christmas at the Princess holiday festival they host throughout the season. If you haven't been to this, I highly recommend you check it out, as entry is free and open to all, including activities like the carousel ride, lights displays (almost 3 million lights), train rides, etc, while there is a nominal fee for some of the activities, including ice skating, parking, and smores. I received an email at 10:30am our room was ready, but we were unable to make it there until 4pm, unfortunately. When I arrived at the front desk for check-in, I was told I had been randomly chosen as one of the select few to receive their "Operation Santa Claus" surprise going on for the Christmas season. I was escorted to the concierge, who described to me all the cool things they threw in for my stay, including an upgraded room. When we got into our room, I literally swelled up with tears. My husband's jaw dropped and stayed that way for over an hour. My kids were screaming with excitement. The room was actually three rooms and the largest hotel room I've ever seen in my life. Every detail was thought of, including my name on the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel bottles. The room was impeccably clean, the grounds were perfectly manicured, the views unreal. The telephones throughout the room said something like "Dial 0 for Royal Service". Truly, I felt like a queen. When our family went to the skating rink, I asked for directions back to our building, and the hotel employee personally escorted me. We arrived back to the room and slippers were by the beds, chocolates were on the pillows, and new ice had been left in our room. The Christmas festivities wound down about 9 or 9:30, and the noise level was unremarkable from our vantage point. The only concern I have is that my children will potentially think this place is "normal". I don't think the experience we had last night could be topped. Anywhere. And this is coming from someone who has slept in hundreds of hotel rooms in locations throughout the world, including the Peninsula Bangkok, which now falls to the second best hotel stay I've ever had. Thank you to everyone who made our stay special.
