  • I really want to rate this 3.5 stars. It is a good restaurant, but to me just not knock your socks off good like some of the reviewers think. I visited here a while back and thought it was OK, but it was restaurant week, so I wanted to try it again. My husband and I visited before a play uptown on a Friday night. We had early reservations and were seated promptly. I had not been since they updated the décor and I really like the look. It is very cozy. Our waitress was very nice and made a few recommendations for us. We did not order any cocktails although they sounded good; we stuck with wine. The bread service is a nice addition. I wanted to love the food, but I found it to be good not great. We had: 1-BBQ Octopus- I LOVE good grilled octopus and read several review that it was really good here. Unfortunately it was WAY too chewy. I am familiar with the texture, but this was bad as in we needed a steak knife to cut it. We were not offered one though so took a lot of work cutting it to eat it. The seasoning on it was really nice, but it was just too chewy to really enjoy. I was so sad, but guess I'll stick to it at a place like Upstream. 2-Yellow Fin Tuna Crudo- This was yummy! Very simple dish, although it was swimming in oil. It could have had a bit less as it spilled all over the table. Delish though. 3-Scallops-we got the special scallop dish that was on the menu that night. The scallops were cooked very well and really enjoyed them. The accompaniment did not quite mesh together and I think the dish that is listed on yelp on the regular menu sounds like it would have been better. Would get scallops there again, just not this particular special from that night. 4-Brussel sprouts-One of my favorite foods so I always have to try them. Especially after the rave reviews I saw. These brussel sprouts were really good and would definitely get them again. Not life changing like some of the reviewers think. Try summit room for some of the best I've had in CLT. Overall, we had a really nice dinner with good service. Food was good, but not great. At these prices you want it to be great! There are so many great restaurants in town, I unfortunately don't think I"ll be a rush to get back.
