I went into this place today with a nice drawing of exactly what I wanted. It was a 3 inch by 1 inch sketch of a garlic bulb. Super easy.
When the tattoo "artist" (who, mind you, was rocking an Obey tattoo like a walking clothing line advertisement) told me he didn't think it looked realistic enough and I should add cloves, I told him that the drawing was how I wanted it to be. Not wanting an artist working on a permanent piece on my body to be unconcerned with how it turned out I told him if he didn't want to do it, I didn't really want him to do it either. I assumed he could recommend another artist in the space (which was completely empty, with several artists mulling about doing nothing) who could do a nice rendering of the line drawing. He scoffed a bit, at my apparently lack of hip points and then turned around with a sassy school girl styled "fine" to abruptly end our conversation... despite knowing that one of the other girls with me was interested in a piece also. It seems like there were a lot of artist, and maybe this gross hipster was just too hungover to care, but he was so rude to us that I would never walk back into this place and don't recommend anyone else do the same.
After this I drove down to Lucky Cat Tattoo a few miles down the road. Jerry Thomas was very nice and did not make me feel like a shit head.
