| - I've FINALLY upgraded to a new car, so I will be taking my new baby to the dealer for the next three years (yah! car with a warranty!). That being said, I utilized Pep Boys for the past 8 years for two reasons, convenience and customer service. Pep Boys is right on a major bus line so you can drop your car off and get to where you need to go. They have extended evening hours, AND are open full hours Saturday and Sunday. I've said it before, I know they are overpriced, but check their site for coupons (last time I was there saved 10% on a pretty hefty bill).
Here is what shocks me about my fellow Yelpers feedback - I have never experienced anything but awesome customer service here over almost a decade of patronage. Everyone is super-stressed when taking your car into the shop, b/c most likely the news and bill isn't going to be good, so I think the whole process usually doesn't get off to the best start. The Pep Boys' check-in staff, the mechanics, the peeps that work in auto parts, etc.....all very friendly and willing to help. And I know this isn't just b/c I'm a women (may be part of it, but not all). I've seen them interact with other clientele of the males species with the same gusto.
So overall, I stick with my original review but wanted to expand - overpriced, yes (sign up for the Rewards card and check their site for coupons to save some $$$). Great hours and service, double yes.
