Visited yesterday with my husband and two and seven year old daughters.
The zoo is rather large, so wear your walking shoes. I was surprised to see my Fitbit had logged 12,000 steps while we were there However, it's clean and the animals seem to be well cared for. Even though there's a lot of walking, everything is close enough together it doesn't really seem like it's that far. The worst part is the uphill trek, but it's good cardio! There are a lot of benches around if you need to take a break.
There are plenty of opportunities to get close to the animals, and when we went past there was a zoo employee feeding elephants and a group of kids watching. My seven year old hung back with us and he beckoned for her to come to the fence line with the other kids to watch him. He asked them many times if they had any questions about the elephants and patiently answered them all, which I thought was impressive and great. Many of the other exhibits had a zoo employee nearby who offered to answer any questions anyone might have a few times also. Thumbs up for learning!
There is a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut in the food court area, but they'd really benefit from some organized lines or something. There's a lot of chaos around there when lunchtime rolls around. I am looking forward to visiting again!
