| - UPDATE:
This issue has been resolved. The manufacturer replaced all of the tilt rods in May 2014 free of charge and as of writing this (7/14/14) the shutters are no longer breaking. It was still a frustrating experience so I will leave my earlier reviews stand, but felt it was necessary to update my review and let others know that the company did do the right thing (eventually) and the matter is closed.

From March 27, 2014: Since my poor review on 1/2/2014, I reported Superior Blinds to the Better Business Bureau which had 30 days to resolve the case. In that time, Oscar reached out to me on March 3 to say he was sorry he had not responded (since Nov), but that a family member had died and he was out of town. This is the same person who returned my email at midnight initially when I wanted to buy shutters a couple of years ago so I know he has mobile email access. As someone who has lost several people, including both of my parents, I was offended by his response. I don't mean to be cruel or heartless, but a simple response months ago like "I'm sorry, there was a family emergency and I am out of town, but I will respond to this when I get back" would have been courteous and made a difference- but I never got anything like that. So now, it's March 27 still without answer or resolve, and the BBB closed the case because even they were not able to reach the company.
The shutters breaking has been an ongoing problem since they were installed, but the refusal to fix them has been going on since Nov. If I can't get this resolved soon, I'll be forced to file a civil lawsuit.
So unless any of this sounds like fun to you- DO NOT use this company!
