| - I wanted to post a review for this location after attending their grand opening, but their yelp page hadn't yet been set up. After going for my second visit, it crossed my mind again so here I am!! I'll try to review my first visit from memory lol
FIRST VISIT:
DSW had been advertising their grand opening for weeks and also mentioned the first 200 customers would be receiving a $25 gift card. I went relatively early, grabbed some breakfast from Panera Bread (across the plaza) and waited in line. Around 7am the line up started to grow slowly and within the hour, they were also doing random draws for a chance to win $200 gift cards. Once inside, there were heaps of employees. A little intimidating cause of the amount of shoes everywhere. At least 60% of the store is women's shoes (with a clearance section in the back), 30% is men's shoes (with a clearance section in the back), and 10% bags/accessories/scarves/etc in the front right corner of the store. It's restrictive in a way cause they don't offer kid's shoes and although they offer designer shoes, you won't really always find higher end brand shoes, which are more prominent at winners and marshalls. You won't find Michael Kors etc and for fitness shoes, they offer quite a lot but you won't always find the newer type of shoes (example: newer nike free runs won't be available). Another thing is that some shoes don't really have that good of a discount....it can be as little as $10 dollars off or as much as $50 off so it really depends. Men's shoes are pretty limited and prices aren't as great as women's. On the first day I got gladiator jelly pops for $25 so using the gift card, I only paid the tax for it. The line was ridiculously long so they have each customer a coupon for $10 off your next purchase of $49 or more. Employees were also walking around with iPads to start everyone with their loyalty program which is a points system that later on gives you even more discounts on your shoes.
SECOND VISIT:
During my first visit, I had seen a pair of Fred Perry's for a really good price so I decided to come back and get them. They were on clearance as well, so it was 50% off of their discounted price. I also found a pair of Puma shoes to use for the gym and these were 20% off of their discounted price. After using my $10 off coupon from my first visit, both shoes after tax went up to around $95 which I think was relatively reasonable. I've never found Fred Perry's under $80 so it was a score for me. At the checkout, the woman helping me told me that if I complete a survey online I would receive a $10 coupon off of a $39 purchase within 60 days of receiving the coupon (they really know how to make you come back for more eh? Lol).
During both visits, employees were very friendly. Obviously some were more efficient than others but I feel they were just more familiar with DSW and it's policies but if an employee wasn't sure about anything I asked, they always got the answer from another employee and I appreciate that.
This store is definitely more for women than men which is unfortunate but if you spend a good amount of time inside, you'll be able find good shoes for reasonable prices. I recommend it but it's not for everyone.
