I had booked a room to see my first US Open. I was VERY excited. Sadly, I had to cancel because (100% true), my sister passed last year and a benefit we have in her honor was the same weekend due to a scheduling conflict with another weekend. This hotel, psychotically, has a THREE WEEK cancellation notice. And if you cancel within 3 weeks of the stay. they charge you 100% of the stay. This is absolutely insane. I have honest to God never seen this in my life - I've stayed at hundreds of hotels and have seen a week before - but never 3 weeks. So I had to pay nearly $1k for a room I literally never set foot in. I've tried contacting them (hotel itself and Wyndham corp.) and neither has responded to my repeated requests for leniency. I even asked them if I could just pay half. I mean.....his is outrageous. I'm disgusted that they refuse to even respond to me and are punishing me for having to cancel what would have been a fun weekend to attend to an emotional, but worthwhile, event. I just hoped to share this story so that maybe they feel some type of remorse for having put me through this insane process of charging me $1k to not even be w/in a 100 mile radius of the room I had hoped to stay in.
