| - SCAM!! I'm sure for the most part, Uber drivers do what they're supposed to. But after tonight, they should not be trusted as a whole.
I requested a driver and went to the Uber/Lyft pickup line. I watched the app and followed along the location of the car. I got a text saying the car had arrived. I look at every single car that's driving through the line and I don't see the car. 4 mins later I called the driver. I said that I didn't see him and asked if he was in the pickup line, I wanted to make sure I didn't miss him. Immediately he was rude and dismissive asking me "you didn't get a text from me saying I was here?" I said "yes but I'm standing here and haven't seen you. Can you please come to the pickup line?" He answers more rude and annoyed, "i AM in the pickup line. I've been parked here for more than 5 minutes." There's couple untruths in that response alone. I got the text that he arrived 4mins ago, how could he have been there for MORE than 5 mins? Also, the pickup line is a single file moving line of Uber and Lyft cars. If he was parked IN the line as he said, he would've been holding up the line...which I would've seen since I was standing RIGHT THERE. I tell him that I don't see him and ask again if he could drive through the pickup line. He tells me, "you see that white truck? (I did...across the street) I'm on the other side" Since I was there with my 4yr old, I did not feel safe to play flogger across the road with so much traffic....you know, the Uber and Lyft drivers that were actually driving THROUGH the pickup line like they're supposed to. I tell him that I don't want to cross the street because I have my young daughter with me and he hung up on me! I called back but of course now I couldn't get connected to him. I got the automated machine telling me to enter the phone number associated with my account but when I did, it said it did not register. I tried that twice. Then I got the notice that HE cancelled the trip. I was pissed off of course but didn't think anything of it passed that. I ordered another car who...surprise surprise...came driving through the pickup line to where I was and we got in no problem. After getting in I got the receipt from the cancelled trip and I saw that I got charged $5.15. I was shocked. Now, I didn't know that if I cancel within 5 minutes of ordering or if the driver cancels after waiting for 5 minutes, I could be charged. But neither of those applied. When I contacted Uber online through the app, I got a generic response saying they're sorry the driver was rude but the charge was justified "after further review of the trip". I was shocked because how could that be remotely justified?? Hanging up on a customer so that you can cancel a trip and still make money is WRONG! Unethical to say the least. But now Uber is backing him up! I responded back basically saying that I want a refund and they said that they applied the credit to my account but would not give a refund to my credit card and that they are "closing out this discussion". How convenient for them! I would not accept that and wrote again and guess what...I GOT THE SAME EXACT RESPONSES! Word. For. Word. So CLEARLY they're not reviewing shit. My name gets entered into an automated response and they're relying on customers rolling over and just taking it. Also, I asked for a manager to call me 3 different times and that wasn't addressed in any of their responses. I wasn't even talking to a live person!!!
I've never had an issue with Uber so I didn't know how shady they are. I wonder how much money is made by drivers who "arrive" at the destination but park off to the side somewhere so the customer doesn't see them and after the 5 minute waiting period, they get to cancel and still make money.
DON'T USE THEM!
