  • First of all, this is the only coffee place in the District so maybe they can get away with their surly attitudes because they're "it". But, I will bring my coffee from the Starbucks up the street in order to avoid the rudeness we went through yesterday. It was 5 pm on Sunday afternoon and our family was walking around shopping when we decided to take a little break. The Big Guy came up to help us and just stood there like an expressionless human burrito (no greeting, no response to our greeting, NOTHING) so I asked him if the four cold drinks on the menu were all they served. Considering winter just ended and we'd only been ordering hot drinks for awhile, I thought that was a legitimate question but, no. That seemed to really rankle him and he rolled his eyes up to the ceiling and began to spout off about two dozen flavors in a super annoyed voice. Our daughter asked if mint was available, and he snapped, "YESSSSS." I said, "I'm sorry. It's just that they're not on the menu so..." At that point, he interrupted and said, "What size?" to our daughter so I just stopped speaking at all. She DARED to hesitate on the sizes so he snarled, "16, 24, 36" or something like that. Our terrified daughter just whispered, "Small" and I said, "Medium," leaning back so he wouldn't claw me or something. I asked for two extra shots of espresso in each drink and he never acknowledged or checked our order but just spat out our total. As we waited, we noticed ALL the employees (Big Guy, Ponytail Guy, and Multicolor Hair Middle-Aged Lady) were super grumpy and there was no conversation, no smiles...just a flurry of activity for TWO measly orders. Finally, Multi-Color Hair Middle-Aged Lady shouted out my name and we approached with a tip for her (because we didn't want to tip Big Guy at all) but, as our daughter said, "Thank you!" to give her the tip, the Multi-Color Hair Middle-Aged Lady just spun on her heels and walked away. Here's the best part, we were both SICK to our stomachs by the time we got to our next destination. I was already irritated with their horrible customer service but what GARBAGE are they serving us?!?!?! NEVER again!!!!
