  • I have been debating over the last day or two what rating I should give this place. New owners took over about six months ago, I think, and it is obvious they have a lot of pride. There are about 12 different hotel "rooms", many with an outdoor pet door where your cat can safely get closer to nature in a wired enclosure. Of course, those rooms that do not have the outdoor access are about $5 cheaper per day. Special services include extending daily grooming, playing or sending you a photo every day while you are away. All, about $5 extra. High quality sandbox sand is used and changed daily, according to the owner. The doors to each room are wired, so the cats can see and smell each other from across the hallway. Some other places have solid doors that close which doesn't let fresh air in. Each room is also "cat-a-fied" with climbing shelves so the cats can be at the top of the room which they love so much. On staff, is a wonderful young lady (sorry! I forgot her name!) who absolutely adores these feline creatures. All of this we learned when we previewed the place before bringing our cat here. We came back from our trip Sunday night. But because the Cats Cradle is closed Sunday, we had to pick-up our cat on Monday morning. Most places are closed on Sunday, so I have no problem with that. The part I *do* have a problem with (and hence why I could not give this a "5" rating that I really wanted to.....) is their billing. Every place I have every taken my cat give you a "check-out time", much as a hotel does for people. Other places -- which I think is FAIR -- give you a time to pick-up your pet (typically around noon), otherwise you will be charged another day. That makes sense. Get there early, and get your pet. Nope......... not here. Because your cat is "on site" this next day, you are charge a FULL DAY's RENT. I think this is grossly unfair and simply not right! Because they are closed Sundays (let's face it, most people are going to be gone the weekend and come back Sunday before they have to go to work on Monday!), you are essentially paying an EXTRA DAY. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. Because of this I am torn about coming back here again. There ARE other options that will not charge the extra day. Sounds like a money-grab to me........ There are other places we also visited that we may use instead next time, just for this reason alone.
