| - I was visiting Scottsdale and looking for something to eat for lunch.. So I checked Yelp and found The Mission with 4 stars reviews overall.. serves mexican food (which Arizona is known for)... and within walking distance from where I was at, so I gave it a try.
First I was confused with the church next to it but then I walked further.. and was so glad I found this restaurant. So.. here I am ... at The Mission!
The atmosphere is very cool... they have outdoor seating areas at the front and at the back, in the middle is the bar area and indoor seating which is very dark.
We chose to sit outdoor since they have heater and blanket.
The food? Meh! What I really don't like is: Our server offered Chips & Guacamole, and later I found out that they cost $14 which is about the same as the cost of most entrees in their menu.
Since it's Sunday we chose Sunday Pig Out, which is all you can eat pork tacos. The downside is since we sat outdoor at the back, we had to walk inside to get our pork tacos.
They tasted ok.. nothing special.
We also ordered Lunch Mahi Tacos as recommended by our server, which consists of 3 small tacos with small portion of deep fried mahi. The deep fried mahi is really really dry!
The drink? I ordered Blood Orange Margarita, again, as recommended by our server, which I later saw there was an additional $3 on the check for adding Solerno, which our server did not explain. It was served without the salt rim, it tasted just ok.
The service? Quite disappointing. Our server did not explain about the cost of Chips & Guacamole which was not on the menu. He also did not explain the additional charge on the margarita. He rarely checked our table either.
Despite the cool atmosphere and the great company I had, the food (tacos), service and drinks are not impressive at all.
