Tourist trap YES! But so worth going.
Basically it's a huge Ferris wheel on the strip in Vegas. There's usually a line out the door to get in but it moves quick; we got thru in 10 minutes. Then up to the bar and bathroom area. It's a 1/2 hour ride so hitting the head before is a good idea. They scan your tickets and send you to the next stop. Yup the photo booth -- every attraction has one. This one had a fancy green screen. No more details as I opted out.
Moving along, you are corralled into groups to await your pod. Think Jodie Foster in Contact. You enter a big glass (ok plexi) sphere. There is seating for 8 with lots of room to move around to take photos. The ride moves very very very slowly. Mellow music plays flying themed tunes. Monitors detail the climb in elevation. There is an on-screen host that gives you the rules (don't freak out if the ride stops, no smoking, camera setting for the best shot, etc) and lots of Vegas trivia. When you hit the highest point of the ride you get the best views -- The Eiffel tower, the fountains at the Bellagio, etc. Take a night ride, Vegas glows at night!
Once off the ride, 1st stop is the photo pick up area. No tourist trap would be complete without the last stop being the gift shop!!!'
It's spendy so check GroupOn for deals. Total Rewards members also get a discount so if you're a member don't forget to mention it. There is an open bar option but you will pay more.
