On our trip out to Las Vegas, we went on the Diamond tour (3.5 hrs) of Wayne Newton's Casa de Shenandoah.
I really did not know that much about him, but I found out what an amazing man Wayne is! The tour starts with a short 18 minute movie that described how Wayne got into show business and a bit about his life in the spotlight. We then got on a shuttle over to his estate that includes a museum that houses some of the many pieces of memorabilia that he has collected over the years - including his private jet, his home and his horse stables/training area.
I could have spent hours in the museum alone. I loved getting inside of his private plane as well as seeing some of the gifts, letters, etc. he has received from everyone from other performers to US Presidents over the years. I had no idea how dedicated to our armed forces Wayne is - just incredible!
His home is amazing. Although it is not that big, it is packed full of additional memorabilia from both Wayne's private and professional life.
Our guide walked us through the whole home giving us details - like they had a panic room that was converted to an office for his wife - as we went along. He and his family lived here until a couple of years ago and it shows that it is very much a home that could be lived in.
We then toured the home that Wayne grew up in that is still on the estate. It is currently his mother's home. Then off to the stables where there were several of the horses he raises. They even did a horse show for us!
I'm so grateful that Wayne is willing to let the public see so much of his private life. This is definitely a tour I would recommend!!
