Everyone in Toronto has a great affection for Fran's, even though it's really nothing special. It's a diner, with diner food, and I was confused by the love it gets for something so blatantly dull. I was told Fran's is the oldest diner in Toronto, and then I understood it's nostalgia that keeps its patrons coming back. Our server was really sweet, and my onion rings were pretty good but I was unimpressed with my burger. I love that it's open late, because my friends & I didn't arrive until after midnight. May Fran's always serve the young, partying population of Toronto that wants diner food in the middle of the night.
