Very nice museum with a wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. We arrived while the outside pad was open, but was getting ready to close (they had it open for a tour bus group that was leaving). The staff made sure to advise us so we didn't miss it. Nice!
The facility is clean, with lots of cool planes to see. The kid (he's 10) really enjoyed the few hands on things. Kids can sit in a Piper cub cockpit, a military Phantom cockpit as well as the cockpit of a commercial plane. Of course the "Miracle on the Hudson" display is comprehensive and fascinating.
We spent about an hour and a half here, but could have stayed longer (they were closing) - keep in mind they're open until 4 during the week and 5 on the weekends.
****NOTE - If you are using Apple Maps, it takes you to the main airport terminal. It's easier to just call the museum - they give great directions!
