| - Please Read because my story might surprise you... I went in on Tuesday, August 8th, with several pieces of jewelry. On TV, Neil says you work with him, & he really was the one examining all of my jewelry from costume to real. I immediately noticed that he was very professional & calm unlike his tv personality. I actually liked that he took his business seriously. It made me feel like he respected his business, me & my items.
This is where my story takes a little twist... I sold my diamond earrings to Neil. Immediately, I regretted it. So within an hour, I called & told him that I had made a big mistake & that I just couldn't part with my earrings. I knew that I had signed a contract, but I thought since it was within the hour that I could just give him back his money for my earrings & that would be the end of it. Neil said he couldn't give them back to me, because he didn't have a seller's license & because they had to go though the police department, etc. It might be a good thing that Neil doesn't buy & sell because it makes his shop very different from a pawn shop. I just wonder why if he's not making money off me, I give him back the cash he gave me & if the earrings were originally mine & I can prove it, then how it could violate anything.
Neil seemed to feel bad because I had explained to him earlier that the earrings were my 5th anniversary present, so he said he would see what he could do. Neil called back again saying he didn't think there was anything he could do. I pleaded with him to please see if he could just give them back even if I had to wait for them to go thru the process of being checked by the police. I told him that I had been upset since I left his store because of their sentimental value. He said he would try again, & call me back.
Do I know if he is being upfront with me about not being able to give them back especially since it was within an hour? No I don't, but he seems to genuinely care. Do I know if he is really trying to see what he can do? No, but he seems to be trying. I really am hoping that he will call back with good news. My WARNING TO ALL is don't make the mistake I made. Make sure that you can part with the item(s) so that you don't regret your decision.
My 13 year old reminded me that I had told Neil that I would do review & was wondering how I would rate it now that I was regretting my decision. You might be surprised after reading my story, but my response was I would still have to give him 5's. He is either the greatest con artist or he really is genuinely a nice guy. Honestly, I think he might actually be one of the good guys in this business. Maybe I am crazy or maybe it is just the 4th grade teacher in me, but I still believe in the goodness of people. I really think that if he can give me my earrings back, then he will.
Also over all, I think his prices are fair. I think if my earrings didn't have a sentimental value, then I would be pretty happy. Of course, it's not what my husband paid. But when going into places like this one, it is important to remember that it is not a retail store & so you are not going to get anywhere near what a retail store would sell it for. Your goal is to get a fair price & I feel that Neil does deliver on his tv promises.
