I am a loyal Lexus customer that understands value as it is related to price. I really wanted to buy a certified 2010 RX450H! I was ready to purchase the car until I tried to negotiate the price with my sales person. He stated during the negotiating process, "I know that you want to win," but you can't win anything." SAID IN FRONT OF MY WIFE! Price was only one issue. It really came down to getting specific answers about the vehicle and yes, wanting to "win something" other than a new battery. My sales persons take it or leave it attitude without any attempt "to earn my business or negotiate" helped me make my decision. I really never felt that the salesan or the Sales Manager wanted my business!! I bought a new 2014 CX-5 Grand Touring with the Text Package this past Monday night. It's the 1st time in since 1996 that I have not purchased a Lexus. Actually paid more than the asking price for the Lexus. Unfortunately the sales personnel at Lexus of Chandler were focused on the car and not the customer. I wish my salesman could have witnessed the professional and respectful treatment that my wife and I received at Berge Mazda. All customers do want to win SOMETHING and it's not only about the price and margin. It's also about helping customers feel good about their purchase. This should be a case study for all Lexus sales personnel. Kim in sales did call me and was polite, courteous and responsive to my questions over the phone. I am sure that if she would have initially handled this sales situation, Lexus of Chandler would have sold the car to me. The car is still available!!
