| - I hesitate to give this place 5 stars due to the mixed reviews, but my experience here was just that.
I did have my doubts in the beginning, especially after reading a considerable amount of 1-3 star reviews and the fact that I was able to easily reserve a table for 10 at 7:30p on a Saturday night - I did it on Open Table around 3:30p that same day!
Reason #1 - my uncle called me last minute to tell me that 2 more people were coming so had to adjust our reservation of 10 to 12. They said no problem. We still had to wait maybe 15 minutes passed our reservation time since we had to wait for the party before us to finish their dinner, which was not a big problem.
Reason #2 - our server was nice (don't remember his name) and pretty much everything came out in a timely manner. If anything, our entrees took a little bit longer than our drinks and appetizers.
Reason #3 - from the bread basket to our desserts, food was really good! The bread basket consisted of pretzel rolls and onion rolls, both were warm and soft and oh-so-yummy. The gumbo ($14) and clam chowder ($13) were good, the apple & butter lettuce salad ($13 for small) needed more flavor though. I got the BBQ'd Atlantic salmon ($34), and it was so tasty that even my petite mom who ordered the same thing finished her entire plate. Hubby's rib eye steak ($49) was big and juicy, and the mac & cheese ($12) was creamy and cheesy.
BTW, there was no kid's menu obviously, so my older one got the clam chowder and side of basil & spinach fettuccine ($9), and little one just got the side mac & cheese and they were fine with that...my little one ended up eating half of my salmon anyways (more mac & cheese for me!).
Although we were all so stuffed, I really wanted to try their bread pudding (I LOOOVE bread pudding) so I ordered that ($11) and my older one got the fruit sorbet ($6). Holy Creoley (ba-dum-tsss) it was one of the best bread pudding I've ever tasted! More soaked and moist than what I'm used to (looked kind of like oatmeal), but warm with a hint of whiskey (very very subtle)...ohhh yeahhh. The fruit sorbet came in three scoops (was expecting just one) and the flavor was mild and smooth. It's homemade and sure tasted like it :9
The prices here are definitely not proportionate to the amount that you get, but rather proportionate to the taste? Maybe my group came on a good day or something, but we all certainly left with happy bellies.
