I just didn't get it. All the hype, and the nice trendy decor, made me want to love this place. But I just couldn't. The food that arrived seemed so far from my expectations that it seemed like a joke.
Fried chicken- WHAT ON EARTH DID THEY DO TO THAT POOR CHICKEN!!? Firstly, it doesn't look like any recognizable part of a chicken I've ever seen. It looks like they mutilated the chicken and then tied the meat into a knot. It really had the texture of last night's leftover chicken that was refried. The meat was dry, and flavourless, and the skin was way too hard and boring. And the sauces it was served with reminded me of the crap they serve at PF chang. I was shocked at how odd and unpleasant this dish was.
Lobster chow mein- this was actually decent. I am unsure if it was because the other dishes were so bad that made me appreciate this dish even more. BUT value for money is important to me, and this dish doesn't have it. WAY OVERPRICED.
Oyster frittata- this has to be a joke. 4 loonie sized pieces.
dumpling- i forget which one. but it was tiny. like really freaking tiny.
I tried other dishes but they were extremely forgettable. All were tasteless and tiny. I can appreciate the effort for culinary innovation. But this place just went terribly in the wrong direction.
To put into perspective my disappointment I consider this place akin to the much hated PF chang, and in similar fashion is the number one contender so far for worst restaurant of 2015.
