I found the perfect pair of stylish, black cowgirl boots at Bootmaster
Here's my story:
I've been looking high and low for a new pair of cowgirl boots since my old pair just weren't cutting it any more. It has been a four month search. A month ago, I got a pair online from the DSW shoe site, and I wouldn't recommend doing that to anyone else. Unless you actually go to a store, try on the boots, write down the name of the brand, style, and remember your boot size (in that style), you will be like a fool parting with your money ordering boots online. The same probably goes for shoes. You see, I think whoever put those cowgirl boots up on DSW decided to do a little fudging and photoshoping to make the boots appear more tailored. Meanwhile a smaller calved, and smaller ankled girl like myself went ahead and ordered the boots. When they arrived, not only was I swimming in them because they were a size too big, but they were sort of greyish in colour and cheap looking. So then I decided, maybe a shoe and boot alteration shop in Toronto could alter them to fit my calves and ankles. I researched Shoe Therapy on Yelp, checked out their website, sent some emails back and forth, and went in last week to have my new fangled cowgirl boots altered. It wasn't to be, because the "Master Repairer" said I would not be happy with the results. What exactly that meant I didn't know because I had some trouble understanding him due to the language barrier. Needless to say, I wasted my time and got my hopes up for nothing when I could have just sent the person I was corresponding with some pictures in an email.
Not to be discouraged, I thought the Liberty Boot Company in Toronto could make me a new pair of cowgirl boots based on my old cowgirl boots. After a few emails, it was very apparent they were not interested in doing business in Toronto (even though they are based in Toronto) and would rather hock their wares online, and advertise all the celebs wearing their expensive and oversized boots (Taylor Swift for example). If I didn't make it clear enough, I personally don't adore oversized (genuine) cowgirl boots. I'm more into the kiss the ankles, caress the calves, sexy, leather, fashionable off the ranch boots.
So finally, in my quest to obtain the cowgirl boots I wanted before a certain date, I walked into Bootmaster on 609 Yonge Street in Toronto. Now this store has been open in Toronto for 26 years, but the last time I walked in there I was a teenager and couldn't afford the prices. Seeing the store again was a lovely experience. A modern establishment with an attractive presentation of items, and smelling of rich leather. Ladies you know that excited feeling that takes you over when you see footwear after footwear that you love in one place? Well, that was the feeling I got. I was served by Helen who has been at the helm for 22 yrs. After trying on a few pairs of the boots mostly by Old Gringo (apparently that is my style) I was presented with my ultimate purchase. These luscious pair of handcrafted boots are exactly what I was looking for, and they fit like a glove in all the right places, thus ending my quest for the perfect black cowgirl boots.
I highly recommend Bootmaster as the place for fashionable women's cowgirl boots, and for stylish men's cowboy boots in Toronto. There is no need to go anywhere else. The boots are not cheap ($300 and up), but look what cheap gets you? Besides, I had a preview of what is coming in the next few weeks in the store, and ladies you have never seen any cowgirl boots like these. Ever!
