| - One snowy Montreal afternoon, my three gal pals and I ventured to Le Parloir for a birthday afternoon tea celebration. Upon arrival we were struck by the emptiness of the place (only two other diners!!) however this was probably due to the combination of the weather and the fact that it was a weekday.
The first step in our journey was the box containing a plethora of teas (however 3 of us still stuck with the classic English breakfast tea!!) This added to the authenticity of the experience and we were pleased to all receive a pot of tea each with a nifty timer to indicate when it's ready!
Our cake stands containing our afternoon teas arrived and we giggled with glee!! The first tier consisted of a selection of savoury nibbles. This includes a delicious duck bite, a classic cucumber sandwich, a homey ham and cheese, a sublime salmon sandwich and a poignant pâté. These were a delightful savoury start to the afternoon.
The following tier contained my personal favourite, a scrumptious warm scone with the perfect accompaniment of jam and cream. In addition to this, we were given a creamy yet light passionfruit panna cotta that just hit the spot!
The final tier was the ideal ending to what was already a marvellous meal. Flavours varied from person to person, where we all received a chocolate bite, a mouth-watering macaron and a tasty tart.
Although a wonderful experience, we cannot forgo the service. After many hours of chatting and gossiping in Le Parloir, we could not help but notice the lack of urgency and attention amongst the servers. Because of this, I will reward Le Parloir a strong score of 4/5.
