Finally was able to ditch the kiddies & have a date night w/ the hubby (who is a sushi snob). I was craving for some exotic stuff and was not going to waste it on some rock n rock sushi bar. Sushi Roku didn't disappoint. The sushi case was filled most variety of fish that I've seen since my days living in S. Cali. Since dinner happens to land during their summer happy hour (wow...it's cheap) we did a mix between the 2 menus.
Oysters 3 ways - all I remember is the one with hami, hami oyster with uni & caviar (5*) ...OMG, I will be dreaming about this dish for a very long time. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/DwP10iEz5LGf3fhcVQZm0Q?select=n3aVAzN_-SyGAdkuLyb4Ew
Halibut Special (5*) - thinly slice halibut on ice (tender, slightly chewy, with a light flavor) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/DwP10iEz5LGf3fhcVQZm0Q?select=Fb5juM08pTBbFGH1WKtD8g
Seared Blue Fin Tuna with white truffle oil, micro arugula & parmesan cheese (5*) - the Spanish blue fin just melted in my mouth..yum!
Zuke Hawaiian big eye tuna (5*) - the marinated tuna has the perfect balance of ginger, tamari & maui onion
From the HH menu -
- Bacardi Moitos (5*) & Skyy Voka Fusion (5*)
-Spicy yellowtail roll (4*)
-California rolls (5*) - where else can you score real crab meat Calirolls for $3.50!?!??!
-Asian BBQ Short Ribs (2*) - way too salty & tasted like liver
- Calamari with ponzu (2*) - kinda of under cooked...not crispy at all
The service was awesome and ambiance was perfect (guess it's more causal during HH). Yes, the raw stuff was kinda of pricey but worth every penny. I hope I won't have to wait too long for another date night ....*sigh*
