I adore the Melwood Screening Room. It has a funky charm and sense of academia meets the arts meets entrepreneurial spirit that I so appreciate. The space is within the Pittsburgh Filmmakers and consists of a theater with classrooms, exhibits, conference rooms, and a lobby/concession stand. I've come for the Ann Arbor Film Fest tour, the Three Rivers Film Festival opening night party, and a premiere for several comedy short films among other things. The Three Rivers Film Festival's opening night party is always a particularly great time. It uses the space well, the food they bring in is delicious, and the beer is top-notch. I love the photography exhibits posted near the concession stand. Check them out if you're ever around!
