  • Before we start, I'll just say I've been to about a dozen different massage venues and the best one I ever had was at The Biltmore Resort. Some of the worst massages I've had have been at places like Massage Envy and Massage Heights. I had bought a groupon to go see Char and it was a pretty banging deal. $35 for a 90 minute massage and oh my was it worth it. First of all, when you're trying to find the place - it's hard. It's in a large building that's hidden behind Sprouts and Swirl-It and it took me a few minutes to track down where exactly I was going. This place is kind of like in a "Spa Park." It's a building with 45 small suites that offers all sort of beauty services. Char is in suite 26 - And it's not even really a suite, it's just one small room, which is perfectly fine, because that's all the space you need when you're getting a massage. However, this is the problem with being a masseuse in a building with 44 other suites: it can get LOUD (j-lo style). My massage was at 5pm on a Saturday and it was still loud. The walls are thin so you can hear people talking or kids yelling - I did my best to tune it out. And when the conversations finally stopped....the vacuum cleaner showed up for a good 5-7 minutes. And when you got people talking and a vacuum cleaner going, that's why I am going to have to take one star off. As for the massage itself, it was comparable to the massage I got at The Biltmore Resort. What makes a good masseuse? Someone that really knows their anatomy, whether or not you actually know the names of the muscles you are working on, the insertions and origins, etc. The more you know about the anatomy of the human body, the more you can do to treat it appropriately. She made sure to double check on the amount of pressure when she changed from the upper extremity to the lower. And more importantly she started on time and ended on time. It was a full 90 minutes of relaxation. Char is super friendly and nice, which may or may not be your thing. The first 10 minutes of the massage was packed with chit-chat and I didn't mind it too much because it built a good patient-masseuse relationship. But there are times when I show up for a massage and I just want to be massaged without conversation (is that mean?). Especially if you are paying full price of a massage, the last thing you want to be worried about is having to telling you masseuse, "Uh....I don't wanna talk" and then risk having negative energy for the rest of the treatment. With all this being said and all the distractions that were present, I'm pretty sure I fell asleep half way during the massage and she had to wake me up to turn me over. It was that good. Also, Char dropped some pearls of knowledge on me throughout the massage on how to take better care of my body - which I appreciated. Overall, I left the massage feeling amazing. I went to bed feeling amazing. And I've woken up this morning feeling better than I did going to bed last night (which I guess makes it amazing squared). Char has really good hours as well, she works on a lot of nurses and medical professionals because she has time slots after normal people business hours. Normally a 90 minute massage will run $75 and with the way my body is feeling right now, I think I'll be going back.
