| - I came here for brunch and encountered maybe the worst management I have ever experienced. My wife and I were told to expect a 25 minute wait with only a single three person party ahead of us and dozens of empty tables around. We decided to wait and then watched as tables were cleared and no one who was waiting got seated.
After a half hour, I approached the desk and asked how much longer it would be. Another couple after us had done the same and then left, leading me to assume that things weren't looking good. I was told that we would have to wait until after lunch which was another 20 minutes. I said this was unacceptable as we had been told 25 minutes and it had now already been 30. The woman who had put our name on the list then said that whoever put us on the list had made a mistake... What?
Apparently they were expecting lots of reservations around noon. All of the photos of empty tables I included here were taken at 12:30. Those tables were empty when we arrived at 11:00. That is 90 minutes with well over half of the tables in the restaurant sitting empty and no one being seated. The hostess grudgingly told me that she would seat us, but only if we ordered breakfast quickly before they switched to their lunch menu. Great, now their incompetence and negligence to inform us that we would miss breakfast upfront had become our problem. No apology was offered at any point by anyone involved.
Soon after we were seated our waitress came over and prodded us to hurry up and order breakfast. We ordered quickly. A little while later an employee walked up to our table and asked if we were waiting for food. She then asked what we had ordered. At this point I began to feel like I was on Candid Camera. I half expected a TV host to jump out from behind a bush holding a microphone telling me that this was all just an elaborate prank.
Fortunately they had not forgotten our order and our meal was served soon after. I was hoping the food would be good enough to make up for the terrible service, but it was not. The smoked salmon completely lacked flavor and the bread it was served on was nearly stale. The salad with my dish was bland. The only good thing about the breakfast was the fresh squeezed orange juice.
For her part, my wife did enjoy her meal. The jam was good, the eggs were cooked properly, and the bacon was sufficiently crispy, just the way she likes it. But she agreed that it wasn't as good as The Snooze or Butter's/Butterfield's.
The patio is very nice, and the courtyard looks cozy too. We were seated in a small room where the tables felt a little to close together.
We will definitely not be coming back here again. If you decide to eat here, make a reservation and request the patio.
