| - Make no mistake, this is a meeting/conference hotel, NOT a resort you would choose for a vacation home base. I attended a workshop here in December 2017. It was perfectly fine for that purpose--in fact, the conference facilities are all very new, upscale, and first-rate. I found my room to be very dark and not resort-like, though. It was huge, but there was only one window, which looked out onto an exterior corridor that didn't let in much light. The bed was fine and the bathroom has acres of counter space (but, oddly, a pretty small shower). It was updated but still kind of bland and the room lighting was also fairly dim.
The restaurants are very standard--a sports bar and a generic bistro sort of thing. The staff were fine in all my interactions with them. The complex is pretty large, with the various types of accommodations spread out behind the lobby/meeting facility and surrounding a couple of pools. The location is a bit isolated from anything of interest to vacationers; this stretch of N. Scottsdale Rd. is very commercial. There's certainly nothing in walking distance.
So if your employer puts you up here for a conference, you'll be OK. If you're looking for a getaway, you'll want to check the various options on nearby Lincoln Dr. or elsewhere in the city.
