When I first walked into Revolver Records in the Melrose District on 7th Avenue, I couldn't help but think that it was Championship Vinyl ala High Fidelity incarnate. Immediately greeted by one of the two owners Steve and TJ on any given day, Revolver is the quintessential neighborhood record store.
Offering a wide variety of new and used vinyl records, Revolver is like a more well-kept version of Central Avenue's Trax and Wax Records sans the dust, the iffy attitude, and the faint smell of cat urine. Revolver also sells CDs, but it isn't a place for those as they are still accumulating their collection.
Something that I love about revolver is that they special order needles and sell portable record players along with rock n' roll trinkets, posters, and band merchandise. Looking for a good foreigh film? Perhaps something from the Criterion Collection? Revolver has a pretty great DVD collection as well, featuring some pretty hard-to-find gems.
Live music on Fridays and local music on their racks. What are you waiting for? Get over there!
