| - I am shocked this place has 4.5 stars, and forgive me if I just ate the wrong thing, but I am being generous with 3 starts.
I went to this spot expecting excellent southern barbecue, but was thoroughly disappointed. The reviews put the thought in my mind, but at the end of the day, it was just barbecue, nothing worth writing home about. It might be that my standards for barbecue are now sky high, but at least give me meat that isn't dry.
I try brisket anywhere south of the Mason Dixon line now, and hope for the best, and that might be a mistake in specific cities, like Nashville, where ribs or another type of meat is prevalent and the 'best'. I wonder if that were the case for Midwood Smokehouse and Charlotte.
Well, the sides, the meat was all average. I was not impressed, and found the flavors to be lacking. The hushpuppies were fine, the mac and cheese was fine, etc.
Anyway, maybe another place on my next Charlotte trip to satiate me barbecue hunger!
