On a night out on the town we began with this distinguished hole in the wall. The door to Downtown has no handle and is seemingly disguised as an iron wall. If that doesn't hint speakeasy than I don't know what one is?! As you venture inside it is not a large venue yet they space it out fine enough. Dim with a few nooks to intimitize your evening. We sat at the bar. Here you can appreciate the craftmanship of the barmen as they add spice, herb & essence with a healthy portion of heft to your specialty cocktail. The decor is brooding and hip. There are, at times, dj's playing usually electro house or ambient. I have not witnessed any pop or hiphop here so it is definitely geared toward a mature late 20's and above crowd. You find vintage and eclectic drinks here and don't expect to get a real bargain, but you do get what you pay for. Absinthe in many varieties, refined spirits and a plethora of garnishes. These bartenders can make you almost any drink and if they can't it isn't available in the city.
