| - I hardly ever write reviews, but if this saves one person the time and hassle I've had dealing with Safelite, I will feel it wasn't all for naught.
In my first experience with them, I had to have technicians come out three times to install and then correct issues with the install, all of which were entirely technician error.
I gave them another shot since they are the preferred vendor for my insurance company. I set up the appointment, but they said they had to order the glass. I was told it would be three weeks until it came in. The day they told me it would be in, they called and said it would be another two weeks. After that date came and went, I called to check in, only to be told the glass would be ANOTHER three weeks. All the while a very large crack right in my field of vision was slowly making its way across the windshield, so soon it would actually be a safety hazard. I expressed this concern, but was basically told there was nothing they could/would do.
Frustrated that I'd already waited a month and was looking at having to wait nearly another month (and who knew if that was really even going to be a realistic date, they'd pushed the date out twice already), I called a local glass company, and was able to get the glass replaced. IN THREE DAYS.
Even though insurance companies have preferred vendors like Safelite, most will allow you to select a glass company of your choosing. Save yourself the headache and avoid Safelite and go with a reputable, local glass company.
