| - I had a leak in my kitchen faucet that caused damage to the cabinets and the flooring. Adams was recommended to me by a plumber, so I decided to use them. They came and did some drying with fans and dehumidifiers for four days. They were always there when they said they would be and I did not seem to have any issues with the workers. If I had only dealt with them, I may have actually used them for my renovation.
So you may be asking, where did it all go wrong? Mark from their finance/accounting department called me after the demolition had been finished asking if I was ready to start the renovation process. I stated that I did not receive any money from my insurance company yet, so I wanted to wait until then. His response: "You can use just your credit card, that's what most people do." Then continues to tell me they want me to put 70% down, which is higher than normal. I told him I was not comfortable putting down 70% without having any money given to me yet. He tells me, "What did you expect, that we were going to do the work without any money? You wouldn't understand how the process works." Regardless of whether I understood or not, it is their job to inform their client of how the process works and not to pressure me into paying money I was not ready to give yet. I get that you have to put money down which I told him, but I should not have been treated in that manner. This is when I decided to look at their reviews, and I am glad I did.
I asked for an invoice for the work they had did so that I could pay them and use a different company for the renovation. First, Mark tells me it could be 30 days to write up an invoice and then calls me two hours later telling me they were able to rush it. How is that even possible? Mark sat on the phone with me while I gave him my email address and he told me he was sending me the invoice right then. I had to ask three more times, although they had no problem continuously sending me a DocuSign for the renovation I had already stated I was not using their services for.
Fast forward two weeks later, someone from Adams calls me asking if I had sent the invoice that I NEVER received to my insurance company. I come to find out that they had already sent it to my insurance company (and not me) and had been paid for the work already!! Their excuse for not sending me my invoice was that Mark lived in another state and could have gotten confused. REALLY? It's 2017, send an email. How unorganized could one company possibly be?
Today, a week and a half after their last call, they called me again asking when I'd like to start the renovation. When I stated that I had already notified them several times that I was not using them, I received an attitude from the woman who called me. I mean come on, what a joke. How hard is it to put a note in my file not to contact me again after I've asked many times?
I would not recommend this company to anyone. Everything seemed okay until it came to the money and then it got sketchy. I do not appreciate being treated like an idiot or having to repeat myself several times.
