| - Before we enrolled our child, we have visited, reviewed and interviewed practically all the child centres in the area. In the end; We have enrolled our youngest son who's now 30 month old, with vaughan kids daycare.
Due to his age, he had to be transitioned from one age group class to the next, in a short period of time, something I was not 100% comfortable with at first, but this ended up being a very smooth and unrushed transition, with supervision of the staff members he already knew, starting with short visits at a time, which were stretched out weekly, until he was ready, Due to that, we had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know most of the staff and 2 of the classrooms. He didn't have to wear any silly uniforms (which in my opinion; a 2 year old should not have to do) he got to be him.
Our child who originally was extremely uncomfortable, shy and anxious around 'strangers' cried his poor little eyes out for the first little while.
BUT Thanks to their 'open' door policy; This child care was the first to allow us as many visits and in class visits as we liked or felt needed, To help our son transition...
Thanks to that and the warm hearted staff, Our child warmed up so quickly, to the kids and his teachers, supervisors and the owner, made friends and developed close relationships.
In his first weeks, if he felt uncomfortable they took turns, with having him as their 'helper' therefore they would distract him by walking around, visiting the babies and other classes. All children are different, Some of the children who get more homesick then others; including mine, would also get cuddled and rocked when very upset.... They felt love, warmth... Rather then ignoring the child and having him 'adapt'
Recently; He not only started eating Independently; he started EATING in general! Perhaps it's their organic menu, perhaps it's their technique... But certainly was never force fed, like other child cares in the area.
If my child did not like what was on the menu, he was given options! The staff take preferences and especially allergies very seriously!
He also started speaking in full sentences, singing the alphabet recognizing letters, numbers, his name and much more!
YES the staff is young, and yes they hire new help when necessary, but the regulars are all there....and they are all so great!
Educated, Friendly and knowledgable, at every pick up they give you, your child's break down of his day... And even have a chart of what he ate, how he slept, and bathroom visits ...:
My child always comes home clean, fed, changed, and now suddenly potty trained!
Yes there have been a few minor hiccups, (with my high standards, like most moms) but it never hurts to speak up, since I'm very specific with how I like my child cared for.... But the staff always respects and understood that.
They go for walks, they have an amazing outdoor play area, with patted ground, slides, sand box, basketball nets and lots of toys, the children are always occupied indoor and outdoor with projects, games, singing and small performances,..
My husband or Myself are there daily, and I have never ever seen any of the classrooms use TVs...
The staff is so hands on, Even if my child arrives after breakfast they always ask if he is eaten, or would like a snack. If my child prefers his lovey toy, they make sure it's taken care off, if my child prefers one snack over the other they always offer it to him. So far so good !
