  • i've been wearing clip-in hair extensions for 10 years and i was always curious about semi-permanent extensions so i finally decided to get them done. i found about Love's in the Hair and thought they would do a great job. they emphasize that the consultation is free (they have posted a few instagram posts about that) but i was a bit disappointed when i dropped by for a consultation bc all they did was explain the pricing, types of hair they have, and different methods - which i already knew from reading their website. they didn't even look at my hair or matched my colour. when i asked them if they should match the colour or how much hair i should get, they simply said "the stylist will do it when you come in". ummm okay... i had already made up my mind to get my hair done there so i made an appointment anyway, but i thought the consultation was a complete waste of my time bc i got nothing out of it. so it's funny how they advertise that it's free as if there is any value. when i came in for my appointment, i was expecting to get 100g. however the stylist said i'll prob need extra 25g for $65+tax - so again, why wasn't this discussed at the consultation? i said okay anyway. THEN the stylist said that they have no hair that matched my hair colour =/. i have ombre medium ash blonde, and what she ended up doing was mixing platinum blonde and grey. i was unsure about her choice as they were both very different from the medium ash blonde i had but she assured me that it would work out. the verdict: it worked out okay. i already had ombre going with darker roots to medium blonde, so adding ashy platinum in the bottom blended in alright. however, under certain lighting/angle, you can kind of tell i have extensions of different colour. also, when i have my hair straight, you can see streaks of grey because they don't blend in together too well. this kind of bothered me at first, but now i'm used to it. if they had let me know that they didn't have my colour during the consultation, i may have gone somewhere else that can provide me with the matching colour. as for the quality (for their standard line) - you definitely get what you pay for. after washing my hair, i blow-dry the fusion bonds (since they cannot be left wet too long) and let the bottom of my hair air-dry. when air-dried, it dries clumpy - each strand sticks together and ends up looking like spaghetti. when i blow-dry the hair, it dries frizzy (ha this may be a good thing for me since it blends in well with my natural hair which also dries frizzy due to the damage caused by excessive bleaching). from my experience with hair extensions, this happens with the lower-quality hair. also, i compared my hair with my friend's better-quality fusion extensions, and hers def did not dry as frizzy or clumpy. the hair tangles and sheds a lot too. i use their recommended product and a lot of detangler spray and brush as gentle as possible, and still A LOT of hair falls off... i expected shedding since there is now increased volume and length but it sheds A LOT. after a wash and blow dry, i get a ball of hair every time... My friend who got fusions done elsewhere was surprised to see how much hair i was losing after every wash. it almost makes me wonder, is this why they recommended extra 25 grams? my other issue was that some bonds in the back were showing bc not enough natural hair was covering them - which i understand it can totally happen. so i texted them to get them fixed, but their replies to schedule me in was noticeably slower compared to when i was scheduling for a consultation/appointment and sending in my deposit, so i said never mind. i'm just going to back-comb more hair and hopefully it covers more. LITH overall did a good job though. the stylists were professional, no pain, relatively affordable, and hair looks great when styled. however there are things that can be improved and i'm most likely going somewhere else next time.
