| - The apostate teachings of Christ Church of the Valley.
CCV and it's large team of pastors made a decision years ago to preach and teach a different gospel than is written in God's word. They became an "attraction" church. They got rid of the suits and ties and traditional worship music. They asked unbelievers what they wanted a church to look like, then they created a model that turned their church into a place that seemed comfortable to unbelievers. almost like a local night club. They dim the lights, bring out a rock band, turn up the music to 100 decibels, turn on flashing lights and the smoke machine, and entertain the audience.
Do they teach the truth from God's word? Of course not, they are led by false apostles, like Paul warned about in 2 Cor. 11; For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Acts 20:30
Even from your own number, men will rise up and distort the truth to draw away disciples after them.
CCV does not teach that sinners can become christians by faith in Christ as their savior, for His sacrificial death on the cross of calvary. God's word teaches that we are saved by grace.
Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast....
CCV and it's pastors have embraced false teaching of the Restoration Movement. That is exactly what they told me when my wife and I tried to join their church. They falsely teach that salvation has four parts to it, including baptism for the remission of sins. Let me repeat that, CCV teaches you are not saved by accepting Christ's sacrificial death on the cross, but rather when you are baptized as part of a four part series of works.
People flock to CCV for the music and how soothing and non-threatening the messages are. They will repeat over and over that they believe in unity above all things. If you ask them about why they do not teach certain doctrines that are in the Bible, they quickly respond by saying those are non-essential issues that can only divide the church. They define essentials as core beliefs that make a difference in going to heaven or not, yet falsely teach that the main essential taught in the Bible is that you are not saved until you are baptized for the remission of sins. They also will not accept you as a member unless you agree on what is expected of members; "invest your financial resources to expand the ministry." They prefer direct deposit to a weekly offering.
Christ Churches have embraced the Restoration Church movement of the early 1800's. That is what they say. Yet that early restoration movement resulted in multiple splits, some joining the mormon church and others drifting away from teaching the Bible. CCV has chosen the route of the mega-church and gone almost secular in becoming an attraction church that entertains people. Here is a link to a PDF written by a pastor in Australia who thoroughly researched the Restoration Movement and exposed their false teachings.

For those currently attending CCV, here is a wonderful presentation by Todd Friel from the show Wretched, on when it might be time to leave a church that is not teaching the word of God.

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this bookAnd if anyone takes away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
He who testifies to these things says, Yes, I am coming soon.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus"
Revelation 22:18-20
