| - Okay, I'm going to start my review out on the good points and not totally bash the place because after all, it's an older hotel and it's a given that the rooms will be somewhat older and a tad run down, which they were, but you cannot beat this location for the price! The location is prime, right in the middle of the strip, the center of amazing restaurants, bars and the beautiful new strip walk of Las Vegas. You can literally walk out the front door and go either way, with New York , NY on one side and the Aria on the other, the Hard Rock and MGM Grand right across the street. What more could you want?
The pool area was a fun time, great atmosphere, a DJ playing, great bars and a we truly enjoyed lounging here for a few hours. We stayed on the strip view side. It was okay, but you see the top of the casino from this side, which wasn't too great of a sight because it was the roof, but still able to see across to the MGM, Polo Towers, etc. The casino was pretty much just like all the other casinos, bars here and there, a buffet and a few good restaurants. The Minus 5 bar is here, which we actually didn't try, but it is a nice edition if you want the experience.
I did take a star away for the room. It was run down looking and old, with tape holding up the desk drawer, which was broken and wouldn't stay shut. Scratches on the wood furniture, cracks in the bathroom tile and a tile piece missing even. I guess this is what I was expecting because we knew the hotel was older, but we weren't really going to Vegas to spend all day in a luxury room, we were going to Vegas to spend time outside of the room! Upgrading a few things in the rooms would probably be a plus for this classic hotel, however, I wouldn't complain.
The hotel staff was great, accommodating and friendly. The bartender at the pool area was hilarious. Great service, we would definitely stay here again.
