  • Hey Co Store is a pretty cool spot. I guess it's been open at least a year now? So it's time to get around to leaving a review of the joint. After all, I spend a good bit of time (and money) here. I like that they brought on something a slight bit different here in NoDa. If you're getting down into particulars, this is, in my opinion, a place with a Plaza Midwood feel opened in NoDa. NoDa didn't really need another bar but I'm not complaining because at least this one isn't an overcrowded restaurant, music venue or college-kid appellate bar. Places like Cabo Fish Taco, Neighborhood Theater and Blind Pig have that niche covered. This here is a more chill spot. With the numerous wood details, twice as much outdoor seating as indoor and the fact that it's in an old converted house with class it gives the air of "I'm outdoorsy in that I like drinking beer on patios". And of course who ever said that was so wrong? At the bar they always have plenty of local brews on tap. Bartenders are okay folks. A few board games spaced out around the sparse indoor seating. Outdoor seating is on the porch, in the "yard" with umbrellas, along the side with wooden swings(!) and in the back with ample picnic tables. Used to be they'd do free burgs on Sunday evenings here - heck of a deal and solid way to round out a weekend. Then they did potlucks. Now they have the Dumpling Lady mini-food-truck parked nearby for most other nights. Back inside, there are also plenty of beers by the can or bottle in a row of coolers. Lots of small bites too: pimento cheeses, crackers, bread, etc. Salty and absorbent stuff to keep you thirsty. If you want to take a back-seat to a night on the town I'd suggest finding yourself here.
