I'd heard tales of Soma from chocoholic friends, but I didn't actually know where it was. A party member's need for chocolate-covered fruit led us there on Saturday.
It gets crowded and you may not have space to sit down, but service is fairly quick. There's one line for two cash registers. You're welcome, I saved you from inadvertent line-butting embarrassment.
Grab a basket while you shop. There are signs everywhere warning you that the chocolate will melt at body temperature, so you don't want to hold it in your hands while you shop. At the cash you can even buy a flat, padded insulating foil bag for a toonie so that your chocolate won't melt on the way home.
I was thirsty and warm so I opted for an iced Mayan chocolate with milk. This is like a coffeeless mocha, thick milky chocolate over ice with vanilla and other spices. The alleged orange peel was difficult to taste, but there was definitely a tingly feeling at the back of my tongue. Heavenly. Wish it was bigger. I'll come back in the winter to try it hot.
